Local metal band Dissonance in Design is going on tour with Vale of Pnath for their Prodigal Empire Tour. The whirlwind 15-day west-coast tour starts off on June 13 at Moe’s Original BBQ in Englewood, then down to Craig, Colorado. After their Colorado shows, they head to Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona and New Mexico. They are especially excited about their San Lorenzo show, where Faloujah is also performing. Dissonance in Design is playing in direct support of Vale of Pnath, which means that they get to play after most of the local bands.

For a young band, they’ve come a long way in a short time. Brothers Zac Patuto (drums), and Harrison Patuto (lead guitar), started the band when they were fourteen and twelve respectively, just over six years ago. Sam Johnson (lead vocals), joined them last summer, and Evan Hertzog (bass), joined them in November. Johnson and Hertzog played in Sunday Massacre, which started their collaboration with the brothers. They’ve teamed up to create a progressive/technical metal powerhouse with intense stage presence.

Touring with Vale of Pnath is a huge honor for Dissonance in Design. They’ve gone from being fans, to having Vale of Pnath play at their CD release party, and now touring with them. They intend to emulate local metal band Havok by touring, getting out there as much as they can, and growing their fan base until they land a deal that would have them touring like Havok. I had the pleasure of talking with Havok before they left on their European tour last fall, and the one thing that struck me, above all else, was how humble they are, despite their success. Dissonance in Design has that same humbleness and stage presence, and I have no doubt that they will succeed in their goals.

DID plan to keep playing local shows when they return from tour, and to get into the studio to start recording. They’ve written a ton of new material and can’t wait to share it. They are grateful to their families and fans, and know they couldn’t do this without their support. And they wanted to give a shout out to Fivebyfive Records for working with them to make everything happen, as well as KBPI’s Uncle Nasty and B Lo for giving them airtime. I highly recommend checking this band out if you enjoy great shows, stirring vocals and kick-ass skill.

  1. The Band just informed me that they are now the headline band. Late news, but very cool for Dissonance in Design!
