Denver, CO  — July 23, 2012 — Megan Burtt issues a call-to-action to local musicians and this thriving artist community answers the call! Over 30 Colorado-based musicians have contributed original songs to raise money to support the Colorado wildfire relief efforts; the movement gains momentum and formalizes this week!

Singer-songwriter Megan Burtt can now add “activist” to her list of vocations. With news of her home state burning making national headlines, Burtt reacted instantly with an idea to bring local artists together to summon the rain — Make A Rain Dance, Colorado!

The project started as a simple call-to-action on Facebook, inviting local musicians to write a new song that would help bring the rains to quell the 17 fires burning at that time, the most notable being High Park and Waldo Canyon. The Colorado music community responded, and in a matter of weeks, 34 new compositions were posted to the group and buzz was building.

Megan’s goal is to monetize these songs to generate revenue to support the relief efforts, so www.makearaindanceco.com was born!

The buzz continues to grow! Megan has recently been contacted by Denver-based non-profit organization, The Relief Project. Founded in 2005 by musicians Brad Corrigan (Dispatch) and J.E. Borgen, the Relief Project has brought together big name artists (North Mississippi All-Stars, Flobots, Gregory Alan Isakov) in support of local and international relief projects. They will be featuring a fan-voted artist from Make A Rain Dance, Colorado! on their new compilation due out this fall.
