Escape The Fate’s This War is Ours Tour hit Denver at the Summit Music Hall on April’s Friday the 13th. The show, also featuring Attack Attack!, The Word Alive, SECRETS, and Mest was a great success. Enough fans turned out to nearly fill the venue, and everyone was clearly happy to be there.

SECRETS, the first opening act, played at the Marquis about a week prior on Sleeping With Sirens’ headlining tour. The band’s popularity is on a rise and in only a week, they had twice the amount of Denver fans singing along. SECRETS has a melodic and electronic post hardcore sound with some soothing clean vocals mixed into the loud screaming and heavy breakdowns.

Being Friday the 13th, the show was doomed to have some technical difficulties. Attack Attack!’s set was broken up by multiple sound problems where almost all of the audio cut out with a harsh screeching noise that nearly deafened the audience. When the music cut out, the only think that could be heard was Andrew Wetzel’s drumming. Despite this, the devoted fans in the audience continued to scream the words and mosh as if the band was still playing. Vocalist Caleb Shomo became so irritated with the sound issues that he at one point dropped the mic and shrugged in a fashion that suggested he would leave the stage, but the support of his fans was enough to keep him there weathering the difficulties. Between disturbances, the band played a set that showcased their talent to the furthest degree.

Escape The Fate’s set was blessed not to experience the same issues. When the rock band took the stage the room was captivated. The band was dressed in torn skinny jeans and denim jackets covered in patches. Their style is very typical to that of a typical rock star’s. The band was as visually appealing as they were to the ear. Escape The Fate played hits off of all their records, with fan favorites like “This War Is Ours”, “The Flood”, and their most famous song “Situations”.

The night ended a success despite some of the speed bumps along the way. Attack Attack! recently announced that they will be playing on the Scream It Like You Mean It Tour this summer. Dates have yet to be announced, but when the tour passes through Denver they will have a chance to play a full set without any problems for their Colorado fans.
