Respect the Voices Work on New Tracks

The hip hop duo Respect the Voices -made up of local rappers Voz 11 and Know Respek– are hard-working artists from Boulder. The group has played shows around Denver and Boulder and are gaining momentum. Over the last few years they have performed at venues such as the Fox Theatre, Herman’s Hideaway, Lions Lair and Lost Lake and opened for national touring acts including Naughty By Nature, 2Mex and Aceyalone.

Before they became Respect the Voices, the two members, Know Respek and Voz 11, worked in other projects. Know Respek was originally part of Suiside Cynicate while Voz 11 recorded and performed as a solo artist, releasing the 2012 album Polarization. Voz 11 is also a Scratch DJ and scratches on the band’s albums and during shows as well.

Respect the Voices uses a unique back and forth style made famous by early Def Jam artists Run DMC and Beastie Boys. The duo is also influenced by rappers such as Xzibit and Too Short, plus the duo of Red & Meth.

The band will be releasing a tracks on a regular basis for the next few months on their ReverbNation account, while they work on their debut album. Respect the Voices will be performing this Saturday (August 16th) during a special daytime show at the Fox Theatre, with doors at 12:30. The band is also playing an all ages show on September13th at Dog House Music, in Lafayette with free keg beer for those over 21.
