The enthusiasm of the Motionless In White show was practically tangible in the pulsing of the crowd who had waited through opening acts: Crown the Empire, Upon the Dawning, Stick to Your Guns, and Chelsea Grin. Jesse Barnett, lead vocalist of Stick to Your Guns, took a moment between songs to ask the crowd to respect individuality and grow creativity because even someone that looks different than you can be filled with amazing ideas. This was a poignant moment for the show, which consists of high school kids dolled up with painted faces, hardcore kids with black Xs on their hands, and everyone else in between. It’s a colorful show full of colorful people; and a few fights aside, the people were as amazing as the bands they came for.

Chris “Motionless” Cerulli, lead vocalist for Motionless in White, was on point with his vocals, but it was his enthusiasm that really kept the audience energetic throughout the set. He asked plenty of questions and interacted with the crowd, never leaving a gap for a dull moment to slip in. The set list was a bit of the old and new, with favorites “Abigail,” “Ghost in the Mirror,” “We Only Come out at Night,” “Creatures,” “Scissorhands,” “Black Damask,” and “Devil’s Night.”

“City Lights,” as the crowd was told, was one of two songs never before played from the Creatures album, and the Denver fans were the lucky ones to listen to it with lighters and cell phones aglow. It was impressive to listen to “Motionless,” sing the lyrics with help, word-for-word, by the crowd. At the end, light confetti fell from the ceiling mimicking snow, and it was eerie how silent the crowd went to revel in it.

The show ended with an encore to their most popular and hardest song from their Infamous album, “Immaculate Misconception.” Head-banging and crowd-surfers came out to play then and the night ended on one of the heaviest notes of the show. It was exciting to be a part of the Children of the Night and the atmosphere created by Motionless in White.
