Hello world. My name is Andre. I am 18 years old, and my life has taken me through many ups and downs, but pain is motivation, and that’s the reason I am the way I am today. Throughout my life I have always been attracted to the sounds and styles of music. Since music has been part of my life, I have used it to relax and as a coping tool. At 13, I got my first laptop and had a program called FL Studios, and I started producing beats. My passion started to grow rapidly, as did the hardships with my family.

Over the course of several years, I had all my stuff taken from me and was in and out of foster care, eventually winding up in the Savio House, a residential treatment facility in Denver. At the Savio House, I was introduced to a program called Youth on Record, which taught the basics of music production. YOR taught me how audio samples, MIDI files, and effects work. They also taught me the basics of song arrangement. After a while I was moved to a foster home called Third Way Emancipation, which was just another home to me. However, it turned out to be a decent place where I could set up for my future. I got my GED and internship, and began to save money. Little did I know the day that would change my life was near!

On January 18, 2012, I walked in for an interview at Devereux Cleo Wallace, a residential treatment facility, and there before me was Nathan Schmit, my teacher from Youth on Record! His class had just ended and he was leaving the same facility that I was interviewing at! After that meeting, I got affiliated with YOR again and it is great. I started teaching classes with him, and I’m loving every bit of it, especially working with kids that were just like me when I was younger.

Currently, I am still working with YOR, and I have been accepted to Full Sail University, Florida, and will be going there for my Bachelors for Recording Arts. My passion is, and will always be, music. Every time I get to show or share my passion, I do it with greatness and joy!

Nathan also got me back on track with my passion, MUSIC, especially with my own music, my own production. I also had great foster parents that supported me fully in this cause because my passion for it is so huge. So, I would love to take the time say a big Thank You to Nate and the Youth on Record program for helping me get to the point I am now, and getting me the tools I needed to do it. I would also like to thank Ben and Kelly Borger for supporting me the whole way and also giving me the help I needed.
