The Maine is coming to the Summit Music Hall THIS Wednesday, and you should be there. Unless, of course, you have a previous engagement with One Direction . . . gah . . . At the very least, you should check out their latest release, Forever Halloween, and their accompanying documentary digitally released a new documentary entitled “Behind Forever Halloween,” which follows the band during the making of their album. Get to know what makes these guys tick behind the scenes.

CMB: Please confirm band members’ names and what you do

Pat Kirch (PK): John O’ Callighan (vocals), Garrett Nickelsen (bass), Pat Kirch (drums), Kennedy Brock (guitar/vocals) and Jared Monaco (guitar)

CMB: Is this the first time you’ve done a promo documentary? If so, what made you decide to do it? Either way, how has the response been, and would you do it again?

PK: I love showing people the process of how something gets created; I think it gives you a deeper connection to the music. It’s something we will continue to do, I’m sure.

CMB: Forever Halloween is your 4th full-length release. What are the biggest changes you’ve seen since the band’s inception (or Can’t Stop Won’t Stop)?

PK: I think the biggest thing that has happened for our band is that we have always continued to grow and change, and that has kept things exciting for us. I think that we are even more excited than ever to be doing this. Things are always changing in our band, but it doesn’t ever feel like we are trying to change our sound, it just comes to us, so it is hard [for us] to notice it.

CMB: Best compliment you’ve ever received as a band?

PK: I think it is nice to hear that we never make the same record over again, and that people notice that we care about our fans. We are very proud of that.

CMB: Favorite CO venue (that you’ve played).

PK: We played the Fillmore in 2008, and that was pretty amazing! I hope we will have the chance to play that venue again.

CMB: This one’s a thinker: Name 3 songs (not yours) that sum up 2013 so far.

PK: I have been listening to a lot of Pavement and we just did a cover of “Spit on a Stranger,” so I will go with that song. I got to see the Rolling Stones play this year, and it was so badass, I will go with “Happy” by the Stones. Plus, “Slow Dance Night” by This Century they put out such a great record. It is very fun.

Check these guys out, this Wednesday, July 24th, at Summit Music Hall.
