INDIE YET COLLABORATIVE PARTY UNITES STATEWIDE VENUES, AGENCIES, MEDIA, FESTIVALS, BREWERIES AND OTHER MUSIC-MINDED ENTITIES

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — SpokesBUZZ, a local nonprofit successfully positioning Fort Collins as a global music hub, spearheads the launch of the new statewide collaborative effort. While planning its fourth annual South by Southwest day party sponsored by New Belgium Brewery, the directors invited Colorado organizers of SXSW showcases to join together. The Colorado Music Party was born to unify and amplify the Colorado music scene via cross pollination of talent, resources, knowledge and overall synergy, starting at SXSW 2013.

True to the spirit, for the first time SpokseBUZZ expands its showcase to include non-Fort Collins acts from Denver, Boulder and beyond.  Traditionally the SpokesBUZZ day party exclusively showcased local bands who participate in the SpokesBUZZ multi-year incubator program. Event details, lineups and music from every event under the Colorado Music Party will be posted on www.coloradomusicparty.com. Participants include The Denver Post’s Reverb/Underground Music Showcase,  Vinefield Agency/Mishawaka Amphitheater, Oskar Blues Brewery, and Illegal Pete’s/Greater Than Collective Starving Artist Party.

“The Colorado music scene is highly creative and collaborative – and the community within that scene is both close-knit and open-minded,” said Dani Grant, SpokesBUZZ founder and president. “These are values that are not traditionally associated with the music industry, which has historically been very competitive and cagey.”

“In part because of its relatively remote geographical location and its distance from anchor cities on traditional touring routes,” Grant explains, “Colorado musicians have had to evolve beyond the mindset that guarded and detached are attitudes that can get you ahead of the game. We literally have had to band together to achieve success, and sharing – of resources, contacts, ideas and inspiration – has set the stage for a paradigm shift.”

“We don’t see Colorado as the ‘middle of nowhere’ – we see it instead as the center of the revolution,” Grant says. “And what better way to organize a revolution than to create a party?”

The Colorado Music Party website provides festival goers a one-stop shop for researching and RSVPing for all participating Colorado showcases. After SXSW it will keep the spotlight on each participant, the musicians they presented and unveil the future of music in the Centennial State.
