Anthony Ruptak & The Midnight Friends have been gaining a good amount of steam around town. This month, they are taking that steam and are heading out to the west coast for the first time. CMB caught up with Ruptak to get the lowdown on the tour.

CMB: What made you guys choose the west coast?

AR: It was an ambitious dream of mine from years back. Highway one, fresh seafood, north Hollywood, and the Pacific Northwest are all things I’ve wanted to experience for some time. We’ve done the Midwest twice now and it’s time for some new territory.

CMB: What promo have you been doing for the tour to target people in the towns you are hitting?

AR: We have been writing many emails to local press and radio stations as well as targeting facebook ads to those specific towns. We have facebook events for each show as well; not sure if they’ll be of any help at all, but we’ll see.

CMB: Did you work with anyone to book the dates or is it all done in house?

AR: Several of the members of my band have helped book a few of the shows.  I received a lot of helpful suggestions on venues from friends of mine who are experienced touring musicians. It’s a ton of work. Hundreds upon hundreds of emails to snag a handful of shows, but I think it’s important to learn how to do it yourself.

CMB: What are your plans for the rest of the summer?

AR: We will return to play the UMS almost immediately. That’s always a crazy few days. In August there is a house show with Bottle Rocket Science, Faceman and Bear Antler. We’re making a trip to South Dakota to do another session with The White Wall Sessions in September. Then we will just see where the year takes us and promptly begin to plan the next tour.

CMB: Where is the best place to check out your tunes online?

AR: Bandcamp is the best database of all my music. I like the design and ease-of-use. Anthonyruptak.bandcamp.com. We are also on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon.
